Bass player, composer, band leader, traveler. 

Luca is an eclectic and curious musician, whose influences range from Mingus and Haden, to the Gnawa music of Morocco, passing by Cachao Lopez and Jordi Savall. Born in the Italian province, he began to study trumpet at a really young age, before moving on to drums, electric bass and finally double bass. After graduating in Jazz Double Bass from the Conservatory of Torino, Luca had the chance to study with great masters and mentors such as Furio Di Castri, Dado Moroni and Emanuele Cisi, key figures who allowed him to get solid roots in the great Jazz tradition.
At the same time, he always cultivated an interest for other forms and expressions in improvised music, getting to study improvisation and composition with William Parker, Ben Allison and Stefano Battaglia. During his formative years Luca became part of the improvisors collective ‘Mediterraneo Radicale’ for which he composed and curated the music for several projects of creative and experimental music.

His career started in Torino, where he got into the lively local scene, been soon recognized as one of the most promising and talented voices of his generation. From his hometown Luca traveled up and down through the Italian peninsula and around Europe, performing on renowned stages and festivals, side by side with artists such as Andy Sheppard, Jon Balke, Fabrizio Bosso, Emanuele Cisi, Gavino Murgia, Raphael Imbert, Gianluca Petrella, Alessandro Lanzoni,  Andrea Manzoni, Camilla Battaglia and many other.
In 2015 he moved to Denmark (where he currently lives) to study Music Performance at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory of Copenhagen. Here he got time and space to perfection his musicianship and get to study and play with key figures of the Danish jazz and improvised music scene such as : Jakob Anderskov, Kasper Tranberg, Jesper Thylo, Maria Faust, Kresten Osgood, Jakob Høyer, Francesco Bigoni and Emanuele Maniscalco, Ned Ferm.

Luca recorded several albums as sideman and co-leader in Italy, Switzerland, Denmark and Poland and in 2018 he released his first album as a leader ‘Sabir’ recorded with his band Free Humans feat. the Italian saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Gavino Murgia. Luca performed in: Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Russia, Ucraina, Turkey, Tunisia and Morocco, Playing on the stages of festivals and clubs such as Torino Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Vinterjazz, La Spezia Jazz Festival, Aarhus Jazz Festival, Izmir Jazz, Ambria Jazz,  Jazz a Chartage (Tunisia), A-trane (Berlino), 12on14 (Varsavia), Jazz House e Montmartre (Copenhagen).
